This fall Drexel will become the first major campus with a full wireless
network. Of course, we aren't neglecting our other networks --
we're improving them with faster speeds, Internet2 access and more!
For more information on Drexel's wireless initiative, visit our wireless web site. There's information there for students, faculty and staff who want to know how to get on the new network and for other organizations that want to know how to do what Drexel is doing.
Wireless isn't the only thing happening at Drexel this summer. In June we started construction of a high-speed Metropolitan Area Network to inter-connect Drexel's University City campus and MCP Hahnemann's Center City and East Falls campuses. How fast is high-speed, you ask? How's 2.5 Gbps -- that's two and a half billion bits per second, or about the speed of 47,000 modems!
And we're not done yet. Our Internet connection is getting another boost in speed, we're establishing a direction connection to Internet2, the dorms are getting faster and more fraternity and sorority houses are being connected to DragoNet.
