CTI~Systems is in the process of selecting vendors to provide Storage Area Network technology and implementation services. A SAN will provide Drexel with increased storage, improved speed and redundant pathways to the data so that we don't ever again experience downtime problems like those that plagued us in December and Janaury.
Six vendors have been asked to participate; no additional vendors will be considered. A small Request for Proposal will be issued in late June or early July and bids will be due within two weeks of the issue date.
A selection will be made in July and the SAN must be installed and operational by mid-September. The SAN will be used in a test mode for three months. Operational data will be moved to the SAN over the Fall/Winter term break in mid-December.
